Half Moon Bay’s Holiday Gift Drive
Brought to you by the Me to We club and in partnership with the Children’s Aid Society

Dear Parents,

Half Moon Bay’s Me to We club, made up of members from grade 4 to grade 6, has been busy dreaming of how they can make their world a better place. As the holiday season quickly approaches, we are all reminded of how fortunate we are.  Unfortunately, there are still many families that find the holiday season particularly challenging and there are children in our community who are unable to experience the happiness that the holiday season can bring. This is where the Me to We club thought that the Half Moon Bay community might be able to help.

Last year the Children’s Aid Society of Ottawa provided gifts during the holiday season to over 1,700 children and youth who were receiving support from the CAS, and Half Moon Bay families provided gifts for 350 children. With your assistance, we are hoping that the students of HMB can once again experience the joy of holiday giving by helping others who are less fortunate.

Our “Me to We Giving Trees” will be located in the lobby.  The trees will be decorated with ornaments which represent a child (gender and age) who needs our help this holiday season. However, we need your help to make this a success.  Here’s how:

With parental permission, students at HMB will have the opportunity to visit our giving trees and select an ornament to take home. Together you and your child could purchase a present for the child listed on the ornament and return it to HMB. Click on the following link to indicate that your child has permission to select an ornament. If you have more than one child at the school who will be participating, you will need to give permission for each child separately. The deadline for completing the online permission form is Friday, November 22nd. Students will choose their ornaments to take home on Tuesday, November 26th to Thursday, November 28th.

Please check the week at a glance from the school for the link to this year's permission form.

Students and families can bring in their gifts anytime up until December 6th. The CAS asks that donated gifts be unwrapped or in gift bags. This gives the parents of the sponsored children the opportunity to wrap the gifts themselves, which can be a small joy during a difficult time of the year. Donations of wrapping paper, gift bags and tissue, and nametags are greatly appreciated.

Here is a list of gift suggestions and restrictions from the CAS.
